Glendale-based Sprecher Brewing Co. recently earned five medals at the 2014 U.S. Open Beer Championship.
The brewery took home two gold, two silver and one bronze, tying for fourth place overall among 272 breweries with more than 3,000 entries. It was the only Wisconsin brewery in the top 10.
The gold medals went to Sprecherโs Irish Stout and Shakparo beers; the silver medalists were its Summer Pils and Root Beer; and the bronze was awarded to Beyond Braggot.
โWeโve done well in competitions this year, and Iโm pleased about the recognition weโve received,โ said Randy Sprecher, chief executive officer and founder. โWith the increase weโve had in production itโs hard to make consistently good beer. However, our brewmaster keeps producing excellent beer, both in quality and taste. Iโd also like to congratulate the other Wisconsin breweries that won awards in this competition. Well deserved.โ
Green Bayโs Stillmank Brewing and Badger State Brewing, Middletonโs Capital Brewery, Stevens Point Brewery and Sheboyganโs 3 Sheeps Brewing also took home medals.
