SLIDE SHOW: Health Care Hero’s medal presentation

Sgt. Chris Cook of the Wisconsin Army National Guard recently received the Bronze Star Medal for bravery at a ceremony at the Walworth County Law Enforcement Center in Elkhorn. The award was presented by U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan during the ceremony, which was attended by friends and family members. Cook was honored for his heroic service in Iraq. He has had 19 surgeries since being wounded while saving the lives of his fellow soldiers from an oncoming suicide bomber. Cook has returned to work as a nurse and as the EMS coordinator at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Cook previously received a Purple Heart medal and the Small Business Times Ultimate Health Care Hero Award.
