Sendik’s Food Markets announced today that it will open its first Waukesha location in the former Sentry Foods store at the Meadowbrook Shopping Center.
The family-owned grocer will lease the 49,000-square-foot space, at 701 Meadowbrook Drive, and convert it to a full-service Sendik’s Food Market.
The store will employ 150 full- and part-time people and will offer a Fresh2GO deli, full-service meat and bakery counters and a Sendik’s Home department.
“This is our 90th year in business, and we are very flattered that the demand for our brand continues to grow,” co-owner Ted Balistreri said in a written statement. “We know we’ve found a great location to better serve the residents of Waukesha, many of whom were already traveling to our New Berlin and Elm Grove stores.”
The Sentry Foods store will close Nov. 30 after 15 years in business. It was one of two Sentry stores in Waukesha.
The Waukesha Sendik’s is the fifth announced new location for the 13-store chain operated by the Balistreri family.
New stores are also planned at The Corners mixed-use development in the Town of Brookfield and in West Milwaukee. Sendik’s Fresh2GO convenience stores are planned in Greendale and Hales Corners.
All five stores are expected to open within the next 12 to 15 months.
