Sendik’s will begin construction today on its Miller Park Way store in West Milwaukee.
An affiliate of Mequon developer Devo Management Co. purchased the site at 4200 W. Burnham St., which is the former site of an ADM Milling Co. grain elevator, in December for $2.3 million.
“We are excited about the opportunity to serve a new area in the city and connect with a new community,” said Ted Balistreri, co-owner of Sendik’s. “West Milwaukee is a densely populated, growing area, and we hope the new location will expand consumer options with a high-quality, family owned grocery destination.”
The 42,000-square-foot Sendik’s will join other new stores and restaurants on a 4.6-acre site that includes two main buildings. The north building will feature a 16,000-square-foot Goodwill store and the Sendik’s store, and the southwest corner will house a yet-to-be-named sit-down restaurant.
The Sendik’s will employ 140 full and part-time employees, and the Goodwill will employ 40 to 50 full and part-time employees.
The Sendik’s store is expected to be open this fall.
