Milwaukee-based Rishi Tea needs additional space and could move to another location in the city or expand at its current location, co-owner and vice president of sales Benjamin Harrison said.
Rishi Tea, founded in 1997, has been located at the former Louis Allis building at 427 E. Stewart St. for more than eight years. The company originally leased about 13,000 square feet of space there but now has about 38,000 square feet of space in the building, which is now a multi-tenant facility.
“We’re at the point that we need to expand,” said Harrison.
The tea production company needs more space for storage and wants to upgrade its office space and production capacity, Harrison said.
The company has 46 employees and recently added four more.
Rishi Tea is considering four options for its space needs: expand in its existing location, build a new facility in the Menomonee Valley, or move to two other locations in the city, which Harrison would not name.
The company needs to expand to about 48,000 to 50,000 square feet of total space, Harrison said.
In the Menomonee Valley the company is considering plans to purchase a 3.8-acre vacant site north of the new J.F. Ahern Co. building at 3201 W. Canal St.
The company plans to make a decision about its future location plans in four to six weeks, Harrison said.
“We’ve got good growth going,” he said. “Our business is growing, and we’re in a good place.”
