What does your daily or weekly fitness regime consist of?
"1 Hour per day cardio (eliptical) plus 1 hour per day weight training (avg 5 times per week)."
Other than the obvious health benefits, how has being fit improved your life?
"More energy. I work out early morning (4:30 am), and it gets me started off right for the busy day. Just feel better about myself…both physically and mentally."
How does personal fitness affect your work life?
See 2 above. I have a challenging job. Being physically fit gives me more energy everyday."
Do you have a corporate health or wellness initiative?
"Yes."
How does fitness or wellness affect your overall organization?
"Implemeted for 2007. We are driving awareness of the benefits of being physically fit. Not only for personal health, but how fitness impacts everyone’s health benefit costs. We have vitality champions for each market (Milwaukee, Madison, and Appleton). Their job is to drive the health awareness programs through our benefit provider, as well as serving as a positive role model for the initiative."
What advice do you have for other executives interested in starting either a personal fitness plan or corporate wellness initiative?
"Take the time and just do it. There are always too many things to do in a day, and driving your own personal fitness or implementing a wellness program was always a nice thing to do…and never gets done. Make it a priority. It affects the morale of your employees & can help mitigate some of the rising costs of providing health coverage for your employees."
