Milwaukee Area Technical College – 2012
To market and communicate successfully can be a challenge, but Anthony Smith, Milwaukee Area Technical College 2012 alumnus (and now MATC Foundation Inc. board director), makes it work as director of community engagement and inclusion for the Marcus Performing Arts Center, according to Laura Bray, vice president of college advancement and external communications for MATC.
Smith had years of work experience in his field with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin before attending college. After graduating with an associate degree in marketing and communication, he continued his education at Marquette University in its executive leadership program.
In his current role, he stewards the Marcus Center’s community engagement programs including Arts Connect, Family First Nights, Opening Our Doors, KidZ Days, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. birthday celebration and Cantos de las Americas.
Smith also volunteers on several boards, including the Bronzeville Milwaukee Advisory Board and boards for the Hmong American Chamber of Commerce and the Salvation Army.
