Grand Rapids, Michigan-based Meijer opened its 11th Wisconsin store today in Sheboygan at 924 N. Taylor Drive.

The new 155,00-square-foot store is one of the five new Meijer supercenter stores to open in the Midwest this year.

As part of the celebration for the store’s opening, Meijer donated $10,000 to the Sheboygan Salvation Army and $15,000 to the Sheboygan Area School District. Meijer says it donates more than six percent of its net profit to charitable organizations annually.

“Since opening our first Wisconsin store in 2015, we’ve focused on providing the best retail experience while also being a good neighbor in the communities we serve,” executive chairman Hank Meijer said.

The Sheboygan Meijer also has a FastCare Clinic inside the store, which will be staffed by nurse practitioners and physician assistants from Froedert & Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW). It will be supervised by Kirsten Larson, MD, medical director for the Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin FastCare Clinics. The clinic provides access to affordable care for minor health problems, such as cold and flu symptoms. The cost of a FastCare visit is $65, including basic laboratory tests. It accepts most insurance plans.

FastCare services are available to all, not just Froedtert and MCW patients. However, the clinic is linked to the electronic health record system serving the physician offices, clinics, hospitals and emergency rooms of the Froedtert & MCW health network.

“Customers at our other clinics in Meijer stores love the convenience,” said Larson. “We expect Sheboygan area folks will also appreciate having a new option for fast, affordable care they can trust.”

The Sheboygan location is the fifth Froedtert & MCW FastCare clinic to open in a Meijer store in southeastern Wisconsin. The other clinics are at Greenfield, Sussex, Waukesha, and West Bend Meijer stores.

In addition, the Sheboygan store has a pharmacy with drive-thru pick up.
