Milwaukee Wave continues charity night home games

Throughout the 2010-2011 season, the Milwaukee Wave launched the M&I Bank Charitable Jersey Program. The Milwaukee Wave has partnered with eleven different charitable organizations in the Milwaukee area and has created customized home jerseys that represent each organization.
“The Wave has always been a huge part of the Milwaukee community,” said Jim Lindenberg, owner of the Milwaukee Wave and Pewaukee-based Lindy Enterprises. “This was just a way for us to give back on a grander scale and to allow the players and staff to honor organizations that were near and dear to their hearts.”
The Charitable Jersey program kicked off at the team’s first home game in November. Customized jersey’s for each organization are auctioned off online prior to the game and in person at the game as well. All money collected from the sale of the jerseys goes directly to the organization, Lindenberg said.
“These funds are staying in the community these organizations serve,” he said. “In addition to the money raised by the jersey auction, a portion of the proceeds generated from the tickets the organization sells also goes back to the selected charity.”
This Saturday, Jan. 29, the Milwaukee Wave has selected the Autism Society as its profiled organization. The first 3500 fans will receive a Wave Puzzle and two We Energies Player Cards. The UW Marching Band will provide the half-time entertainment. On Friday, Feb. 4, the Make-A-Wish Foundation will be the featured organization.
The Go Pink Soccer Foundation, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and the MACC Fund will also be highlighted at home games this year.
