V3 Healthcare Strategies, a Milwaukee-based global health care solutions company, recently launched in North America two new infectious disease protection devices: the ELEO Single Use Tourniquet and the Hypo-tec Needlestick Injury Prevention Product.
Both devices come to the market amidst an environment of infectious, catastrophic diseases such as Ebola and Hemorrhagic Fevers, while simultaneously protecting against all other infectious diseases such as HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis.
According to V3 Healthcare Strategies president Dr. Paul Markham, ELEO (short for Easy Lock Easy Opening) provides an easy-to-use, safe, single use alternative to the reusable solutions, eradicating any chance of cross infection. The average lifespan of reusable tourniquets is two years, and numerous studies have found 75 percent could be contaminated with threatening organisms, such as MRSA, HIV, Hepatitis and now Ebola.
Markham describes Hypo-tec as a simple, cost-effective solution to an everyday problem using a shielded needle to allow safe access through the rubber bung, or stopper. The device prevents accidental puncture of the bag tail, which can occur using an exposed hypodermic needle, and carries no risk of needlestick injury, spillage or contamination.
ELEO and Hypo-tec previously have been used in the United Kingdom, where it provided solutions for Mad Cow Disease.
