Milwaukee’s Summerfest kicks off the 2009 summer season today at 12 noon and runs through Sunday, July 5. The festival will feature over 700 bands in its 11-day run. Headlining at the Marcus Amphitheater this year at Summerfest will be: Bon Jovi, Keith Urban and the Counting Crows, KISS, Stevie Wonder and John Legend, George Strait, Chicago and Earth Wind and Fire, Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson, No Doubt, Kenny Chesney, The Fray, Kid Rock, Def Leppard, Blink 182 and the Warped Tour.

According to John Boler, vice president of marketing and sales for Summerfest, the event will offer new ways to save including a three for $33 package offered through the festival’s website, and there will also be a lot more gate and ticket giveaways.
