Help stamp out hunger this weekend

Learn more about:

Hunger Task Force will host it’s 20th annual Stamp out Hunger food drive this weekend. More than 5,000 letter carriers from rural and urban post offices will help collect bags of food on Saturday, May 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Stamp Out Hunger is the nation’s largest single day food drive. In Milwaukee County, Hunger Task Force will sort and deliver food to area food pantries and soup kitchens free of charge; outside of Milwaukee County, local qualified emergency food pantries will receive the food in each community. The food collected will help feed the hungry during the summer, which is a high-risk period for hunger because children aren’t receiving school meals. In 2011, over three million pounds of food were collected throughout the state of Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula.
