Fresh Thyme Farmers Market has dropped plans to open its fourth Wisconsin location in Fox Point.
The organic grocery store announced in February it would be part of a mixed-use development Mandel Group is planning at a former elementary school site at the southeast corner of North Port Washington and West Dunwood roads.
Deerfield, Ill.-based Fresh Thyme decided to drop out of the project last week, said Ian Martin, vice president of development for Mandel Group.
“It was a whole mix of things,” Martin said. “Primarily market considerations.”
The mixed-use development will still include up to 120 apartments split between two, three-story buildings.
On the far eastern side of the site, on two acres of land, will be an 80- to 100-bed dementia care facility operated by Azura Memory Care, which has 11 locations in Wisconsin.
Mandel’s North End development in downtown Milwaukee will include a 29,500-square-foot Fresh Thyme Farmers Market grocery store. Stores are also planned in Brookfield and Kenosha.
