Duluth Trading Company recently opened a store in an 8,000-square-foot space in the Smith Bros. Fish Shanty Restaurant building at 108 N. Franklin St., in downtown Port Washington.

“Port Washington represents the no-nonsense attitude of our customers and this location just seemed right,” said Steve Schlecht, principal owner of Duluth Trading Company. “Rugged, hardworking and steeped in history and the outdoors, Port Washington is reminiscent of our company’s first home, on a barge in the Duluth port of Lake Superior.”

Duluth Trading Company sells men’s and women’s workwear, outerwear and gear.

“Our goal is to bring Duluth Trading alive in a three-dimensional brand experience and give folks a first-hand look at our men’s and women’s high quality workwear and signature fabrications,” said Stephanie Pugliese, president of Duluth Trading Company.

Beginning in October, the store will also serve fried fish sandwiches in its coffee house. The fried fish sandwiches are a nod to the history of the Smith Bros. building. The coffee house will also serve café fare including pastries, bagels, sandwiches and pie.
