Cystic Fibrosis to honor Milwaukee’s finest young professionals

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation will launch the inaugural Milwaukee’s Finest event in February. The event, aimed at young professionals, will showcase individuals who show exemplary leadership, are active in the community and have excelled in their profession or business.
“In addition to raising awareness and funds for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, our goal is to introduce young professionals in the Milwaukee area to philanthropic causes,” said Danelle O’Neill, executive director of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. “Our goal is to say to the next generation of philanthropists that they too can make a difference.”
The campaign will kick off at an event held on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Coast, 931 E. Wisconsin Ave. In addition to raising a minimum of $2,500 by the finale event on Thursday, April 19, at Coast, candidates that are selected as part of Milwaukee’s finest will have the opportunity to be paired with a family and be educated on the impact and challenges associated with Cystic Fibrosis. They will also meet with mentors to discuss ways they can and should get involved in the nonprofit community, O’Neill said.
“People are going to get involved because they have a personal connection,” she said.
Julie Brzostowicz, is the development manager at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and is leading the charge on the Milwaukee’s Finest event. “Other chapters across the nation have been hosting the Finest events,” she said. “It’s a great way to show young professionals they can be involved and that it doesn’t have to be a huge time commitment. They can make an impact in just a few months.”
Nominees for Milwaukee’s finest will be accepted until Thursday, Jan. 5. Nominees must be between 25 and 40 years of age.
Honorees will receive a fundraising packet at the kickoff event and will be assigned a CF Ambassador and a fundraising mentor. Throughout the 13 week campaign one-on-one meetings, conference calls and networking events will take place. The individual who raises the most funds for the organization will be recognized specially at the finale reception.
To nominate someone for Milwaukee’s Finest visit www.wisconsin.cff.org/finest. A nominating committee will review all nominations and interview potential candidates if needed. All selections will be made shortly after the January 5 deadline, Brzostowicz said.
