Officials with Concordia University of Wisconsin, located in Mequon, have decided to make an offer to purchase the Mequon Country Club, located at 12400 N. Ville Du Par Dr., Mequon.
The country club has a 27-hole golf course, a swimming pool and six tennis courts. It was listed for sale earlier this year for $3.25 million. The property is being marketed by Siegel Gallagher Inc. and Links Capital Advisors Inc.
Concordia spokeswoman Anita Clark declined to disclose what the university offered to purchase the property.
“It’s basically in (the county club’s) court,” Clark said. “I do believe there are other offers on the table. We’re not sure how we stack up.”
The general manager for Mequon Country Club could not be reached for comment.
If the university’s offer is accepted the deal would be subject to the approval by the Concordia University Board of Regents.
If the university purchases the country club property it would create three new academic programs: event, hospitality and golf course management, and the country club property would serve as a real world classroom for students to work in and learn about those fields, said David Borst, dean of the School of Business and Legal Studies.
