The 10th annual Community Development Summit will examine the issue of foreclosures in Milwaukee.
The event will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, Oct. 12, at the Italian Community Center, 631 E. Chicago St., Milwaukee. The summit is sponsored by the Urban Economic Development Association and the City of Milwaukee.
Speakers from a range of different disciplines will discuss impacts of foreclosures, available resources in the region, best practices to address foreclosures, and the evolving national response to this aspect of the financial crisis.
One of the featured speakers is John Taylor, President and CEO of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition. Taylor is a leading national expert on economic justice, neighborhood, and housing issues.
In addition to sharing practical information to address the immediate foreclosure crisis, participants will discuss the ongoing efforts to prevent a repetition of the current challenges in future years. Additional attention will be directed toward strengthening neighborhoods.
