Comfort Suites at Park Place to open next year

Learn more about:

Oshkosh-based WHG Companies LLC has begun construction of a 120-room Comfort Suites hotel at 10831 W. Park Place, on Milwaukee’s far northwest side. The hotel is expected to open in January. The four-story, 87,000-square-foot building is being built just northwest of North 107th Street and Good Hope Road, near a Ruby Tuesday Restaurant. The hotel will have a conference room that can accommodate meetings of up to 150 people.

The only other hotel in the Park Place area is the 128-room Hilton Garden Inn Milwaukee Park Place at 11600 W. Park Place. Three other hotels are located about three miles to the south at U.S. Highway 45 and Silver Spring Drive: a 123-room AmeriSuites, a 107-room Hampton Inn and a 122-room La Quinta Inn. During the last 12 to 18 months, a large number of hotel developments have been proposed for southeastern Wisconsin, but so far only a handful have begun construction.

Approximately a dozen hotel developments have been proposed in and around downtown Milwaukee, but so far, a mixed use development at the southeast corner of Water Street and Juneau Avenue by Fort Myers, Fla.-based Development Opportunity Corp., which includes a 121-room Staybridge Suites hotel, is the only one to break ground.

In addition, more than a dozen hotels have been proposed in the suburbs, but only a few have broken ground. A 100-room Hilton Garden Inn opened earlier this year at the Pabst Farms development in Oconomowoc. A 198-room Crowne Plaza hotel is under construction at 10499 Innovation Drive in Wauwatosa and is expected to be completed in February. A 82-room Hampton Inn & Suites hotel is under construction in West Bend at the southeast corner of South 18th Avenue and West Paradise Drive.
