Charting a new direction: Wandell kicks Harley back into gear

Keith Wandell, new to his position as chief executive officer and president of Harley-Davidson Inc. in 2009, faced horrendous business conditions. After 20 years of unbridled success, H-D's business landscape shifted as the recession moved into high gear. Credit became virtually impossible to secure from conventional lenders; bike foreclosures were at an all time high; residual value, a hallmark of the Harley-Davidson brand, plummeted from 85 percent to 60 percent.

Cargo volume climbs at Port of Milwaukee

Total tonnage moving through the Port of Milwaukee in 2013 was expected to reach 2.7 million metric tons, according to a recent report. That is a significant increase from 2 million tons shipped through the Port in 2012.

Menomonee Falls-based Actuant Corp. reported fiscal first quarter net earnings of $36 million, or 48 cents per share, down from $36.3 million, or 49 cents per share, in the first quarter of 2012.

City receives $1 million state grant for Century City

A $1 million state grant, announced by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, will provide the final piece of funding needed to prepare the Century City site in Milwaukee for development.
