Fewer manufacturers report growth in mid-year survey

More than 60 percent of manufacturers reported that they are in growth mode, according to The Paranet Group's 2015 mid-year survey. That is down from 73 percent at the end of 2014.

Pewaukee-based TLX Technologies LLC announced today that it opened a wholly owned subsidiary in China in July. The facility manufactures and services automotive and industrial markets in China and the surrounding region.

NEENAH – Neenah Paper purchases FiberMark

Neenah Paper Inc. has completed the previously announced purchase of all of the outstanding equity of ASP FiberMark, LLC from an affiliate of American Securities LLC on Aug. 1.

APPLETON – Appvion names new CEO, sells Encapsys division

The Appvion board of directors has appointed Kevin Gilligan as Appvion’s chief executive officer effective Aug. 4. Gilligan had been serving as president of the company’s paper division. Mark Richards will assist with the transition and continue to serve as chairman of Appvion’s board of directors through Dec. 31 when he will retire from Appvion. Richards has served as Appvion’s CEO and president since joining the company in April 2005.

Kapco faces $207,000 in OSHA fines

A federal agency recently cited Grafton-based Kapco Inc. with eight safety violations following a February incident that led to the amputation of a portion of an employee's finger. A similar incident happened one year earlier on the same spot welding machine.

Douglas Dynamics profit falls despite sales gains

Milwaukee-based snowplow manufacturer Douglas Dynamics Inc. reported second quarter net income of $13.1 million, or 57 cents per share, down from $14.6 million, or 64 cents per share, in the second quarter of 2014.
