As President Barack Obama and challenger Mitt Romney prepare for tonight’s debate, the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged past the 13,500 mark this morning with news that the ADP National Employment Report showed the U.S. private sector added 162,000 jobs in September on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Mastervolt charge clips Actuant’s earnings

Menomonee Falls-based Actuant Corp. reported a fiscal fourth quarter net loss of $16.5 million, or 23 cents per share, compared with a net profit of $41.4 million, or 55 cents per share, in the same period a year ago.
The company's quarterly net sales grew to $405.3 million from $403.4 million a year earlier.

WPS to acquire Kaukauna power plant

Wisconsin Public Service Corp. (WPS), a subsidiary of Integrys Energy Group, announced it has agreed to buy Fox Energy Company LLC. The $440 million purchase includes $390 million for the Fox Energy Center, a 593-megawatt combined cycle generating facility in Kaukauna, and $50 million for the early termination of the existing tolling agreement between the entities.

Generac revises outlook with soaring sales

Generac Holdings Inc., a Waukesha-based designer and manufacturer of generators and other engine powered products, announced it expects strong financial results for the third quarter of 2012, and as a result is raising its outlook for full-year 2012.

East Pointe Marketplace, a 57,888-square-foot shopping center in downtown Milwaukee, is for sale, according to Chicago-based commercial real estate firm Holliday Fenoglio Fowler LP, which says it has been hired to market the property for the sellers, a joint venture of Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. and Mandel Group Inc.

U-Haul acquires Oak Creek storage site

U-Haul Company of Eastern Wisconsin announced it has expanded the U-Haul network of self-storage locations with its purchase of an existing Wisconsin storage facility located in Oak Creek at 611 W. Puetz Road.
