Nearly 80 percent of College Possible students are currently pursuing a college degree or have graduated. The organization provides college preparation services for low-income students, and takes things one step further by continuing to provide support while they attend college.
“Our support for college students is a vital part of how College Possible innovates in the education arena,” said Edie Turnbull, executive director of College Possible Milwaukee. “Our program’s ultimate goal is to increase students’ college degree completion rates.”
The program aims to build students’ skillsets to prepare them for success in college and in the workforce.
Students who participate in the College Possible program are 10 percent more likely to earn a college degree than their low-income peers. College Possible served 1,252 students this year.
“I learned from College Possible that you don’t need to be the smartest student. You need to be prepared and ready to work really hard,” said Josh Starkey, a University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee sophomore.
