  • Thursday, Feb. 23 The Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce will host a Business After Hours networking event at Blu at the Pfister, 424 E. Wisconsin Ave. from 5 to 7 p.m. Cost to attend is $10 MMAC Members and $20 for non-members.
  • Friday, March 2 The Milwaukee Press Club will host the Behind the Headlines event with U.S. Congressman Paul Ryan. Ryan (R-WI), and House Budget Committee Chairman has been the most vocal member of the Wisconsin delegation on the subject of healthcare. A panel of healthcare experts including Dr. Tim Bartholow, chief medical officer for the Wisconsin Medical Society; Susan Giaimo, Marquette University faculty member and author of the book, Markets and Medicine: The Politics of Health Care Reform in Britain, Germay, and the United States. Dr. John Toussaint, chief executive officer emeritus of ThedaCare, CEO of the ThedaCare Center for Healthcare value and author of the book, On the Mend: Revolutionizing Healthcare to Save Lives and Transform the Industry. The experts will be interviewed by a panel of journalist. The event will be held at The Lake Express High-Speed Ferry Terminal, 2330 S. Lincoln Memorial Drive from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend. Cost to attend is $20 for Press Club members, $25 for non-members and $15 for students.  Pre-registration and advance payment is required and may be done online at www.milwaukeepressclub.org

  • Saturday, March 10 The Hospitality and Culinary Club at the Waukesha County Technical College will host Fashion Through the Decades at 11 a.m. in the College’s training restaurant, The Classic Room. The event includes a Goodwill fashion show at 11 a.m., featuring vintage clothing dating to the 1800s, followed by a multi-course menu of foods through the ages served by students in the Hospitality and Culinary Club. The meal begins with a 19th century appetizer and ends with a dessert from the future. The fashion show and luncheon is a fundraiser for students traveling to Italy to participate in a culinary tour; money raised will help defray costs associated with the trip.   • Friday, March 16 Musical group Arpa y Bandolas will take the stage at the Latino Arts Auditorium for an evening concert of llanera music. It will be the Milwaukee-debut for the Chicago-based musicians from Latin America. Ticket prices for evening performances in the Latino Arts Auditorium: General Admission $25, Seniors (60+) $20, Full-Time Students $15, $8 per student in groups of 10 or more. Dinner & A Show includes a General Admission ticket to the performance and the Friday fish buffet in Café el Sol (beverages and gratuity not included) for $32.
