BloodCenter gives away State Fair tickets to donors

Individuals who take time to donate blood to the BloodCenter of Wisconsin will receive free admission to the 2013 Wisconsin State Fair as a thank you for their donation.

 

BloodCenter will give away tickets to individuals who donate on Wednesdays now through Aug. 7 until tickets have been exhausted. Tickets guarantee complimentary admission to the fair any day and any time.

According to BloodCenter, the need for blood donations tends to rise in the summer as many regular donors are busy traveling and fewer public blood drives are organized.

BloodCenter encourages individuals of any blood type to donate, but the Milwaukee-based nonprofit organization has a critical need for O negative donations and platelet donations.

Donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 years old with parental consent. Donors must meet general health criteria and need to bring a photo ID with them to their donation appointment.

The Wisconsin State Fair runs Thursday, Aug. 1, through Sunday, Aug. 11, at Wisconsin State Fair Park, 640 S. 84th St. in West Allis.
