Johnson Controls, ManpowerGroup and Rockwell Automation
Among the world’s most ethical companies are a handful of companies anchored in southeastern Wisconsin. Leading ethical companies include Glendale-based Johnson Controls Inc.; Milwaukee-based ManpowerGroup; and Milwaukee-based Rockwell Automation Inc. The companies were named to the 2015 list of the world’s most ethical companies, compiled by the Ethisphere Institute, which is a research center that studies and advocates best practices in corporate ethics and compliance. Through the list of most ethical companies, the institute celebrates those that place priority on ethical business standards and practices. Designated companies also “exceed legal compliance minimums and shape future industry standards by introducing best practices today,” as the institute states on its website. Honorees are selected after undergoing a comprehensive evaluation based on the Ethisphere Institute’s rating system, known as the corporate Ethics Quotient. The system scores companies in ethics and compliance, corporate citizenship and responsibility, culture of ethics and government. Companies are also analyzed in leadership, innovation and reputation. The rating system and the annual list is overseen by The World’s Most Ethical Companies Methodology Advisory Panel, composed of leaders from a spectrum of industries who value ethical business practices. The Ethisphere Institute has been developing an international list of top ethical companies for the past nine years. This year’s list features 132 companies located across 21 countries and five continents. Companies belong to more than 50 industries. This year’s list, accessible at http://ethisphere.com/worlds-most-ethical/wme-honorees, also includes 15 nine-time company awardees and 11 first-time winners.

Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin
For the third consecutive year, Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin Froedtert Hospital has been named to the annual 100 Top Hospitals list released by Truven Health Analytics. Froedtert is one of 15 nationwide hospitals—and the only Wisconsin hospital—in the Major Teaching Hospitals category and one of five state hospitals to make the overall list. The 100 Top Hospitals study, which has been conducted annually since 1993, identifies 100 hospitals that have been objectively proven to provide high value to their communities. Truven Health researchers evaluated 3,000 short-term, acute-care, non-federal hospitals using public information like Medicare cost reports and Medicare Provider Analysis and Review data. The Truven Health Analytics study identifies hospitals and leadership teams that provide the highest level of value to their communities based on a national balanced scorecard. The scorecard measures performance in 11 areas: mortality; medical complications; patient safety; average patient stay; expenses; profitability; patient satisfaction; adherence to clinical standards of care; post-discharge mortality; readmission rates for heart attacks, heart failure, pneumonia; and Medicare spending.
