The Best Buy electronics store at 8875 N. 76th St., Milwaukee, will close on May 8, the Minneapolis-based company informed the state Department of Workforce Development.
The 188,541-square-foot building was built in 1996 and has an assessed value of $2.76 million, according to city records.
The company says 62 of the store’s employees will lose their jobs when it closes. Some employees may be able to transfer to other Best Buy locations.
The store is located near the former Northridge Mall, northwest of North 76th Street and Brown Deer Road.
Northridge Mall has been closed for several years and remains mostly vacant. A group of Chinese investors purchased the mall last year and plan to re-open the mall with more than 200 Chinese retailers selling clothing, accessories and furniture.
