Accounting firm to present educational luncheons

SVA Certified Public Accountants has announced a series of educational luncheons exploring topics relevant to Milwaukee’s nonprofit community.

The luncheons are targeted toward nonprofit leaders and board members as they seek to advance the missions and maximize the operations of their organizations as well as achieve long-term sustainability.

The luncheons will model a nonprofit-oriented program that SVA Certified Public Accountants has successfully facilitated in Madison, where the firm is headquartered.

Luncheons will cater to nonprofits whose missions cover a variety of focus areas.

“Our events give nonprofit professionals an opportunity to gather together, network and learn something new,” said Kirsten Houghton, head of SVA’s Nonprofit Services Group. “The Milwaukee area is a concentrated center of nonprofit activity with new people constantly joining the industry. We value the commitment and talent those individuals bring to their organizations and want to support them through ongoing training opportunities.”

The series’ first luncheon, scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 19, will center on the use and management of endowments. The luncheon, titled “Do You Know All You Need to About Utilizing Endowments? – A Guide to Endowment Management Issues,” will direct organizations in determining the objectives of their endowment as well as organizing payout policy and annual contributions to operating budgets. It will also guide organizations in configuring appropriate asset allocation and will touch on balance portfolio risk v. return strategies.

The event will run from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the University Club, located at 924 E. Wells St. in Milwaukee. Cost is $10, and seating is limited. Interested attendees should register by Thursday, Feb. 13.
