Following a controversy over benefits paid to a short-term aide appointed by Lee Holloway, Milwaukee County Executive Chris Abele says he will craft six executive orders overhauling sick leave and vacation policies.
The orders include limiting vacation carryover. Now, county employees can carry over half of their vacation time to the next year; unused vacation days are paid out upon retirement. The order would limit the carryover to a maximum of seven days from one year to the next.
The orders will also cap the accrual of sick time to a maximum of six work weeks compared to the current standard of 30 days.
