Notable Veteran Executives: Dale Kooyenga

Class of 2024

U.S. Army Reserve, Lieutenant Colonel

Dale Kooyenga, president of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, has served 19 years in the U.S. Army Reserve, reaching the rank of lieutenant colonel.

Kooyenga is well known and respected by Wisconsin veterans, according to Alannah McReavey, vice president at Bank of America.

“I have seen Dale take time out his busy schedule to attend the Veteran Manufacturing roundtable to offer guidance and leadership to veteran-owned manufacturing companies,” McReavey said. “I have heard him speak at my many business events, including a C-level veteran event, where he shared that all three of his brothers joined the military after the 9/11 terrorist attack.”

In addition, under Kooyenga’s leadership, the MMAC has partnered with UnitedHealthcare to provide $600,000 in scholarships through the All-In Milwaukee effort. All-In is a college completion program that offers financial aid, advising, program and career support to more than 500 high-potential, limited-income students to help them complete college, build meaningful careers and transform the Milwaukee community. The gift will support 30 area students attending public, private and charter schools in the city.
