Chick-fil-A, which has already found a fan-base in Brookfield with its restaurant on Capitol Drive, has decided on its second location in the city.
The restaurant will replace the Associated Bank outside of Brookfield Square Mall at 19601 W. Bluemound Road.
“This deal was delicate because Associated Bank is looking to relocate in the city,” said Timothy Casey, economic development administrator.
BizTimes reported Jan. 12 the fast food chain would be opening a location in Brookfield, but city officials would not say where.
Real estate sources said the location would be in the Town of Brookfield in an outlot in front of the former K-Mart at 18200 W. Blue Mound Road, but that deal fell through because the town would not allow a stand-alone restaurant with a drive-thru without a change in zoning, according to a source.
Currently, there are stand-alone Chick-fil-A restaurants in Greendale and Madison and the company plans to open two more restaurants a year across the state. Chick-fil-A is also planning a restaurant on Highway 100 in West Allis and will open restaurants in Oak Creek’s Drexel Town Square and in Mount Pleasant on March 10.
