More than a year ago, Brian Cummins took advantage of an opportunity in the growing craft spirits industry to start his own company, Great Northern Distilling.
Opening April 2014 in Plover, the company started bottling vodka produced with locally grown potatoes and moved onto whiskey and gin, with a continued focus on sourcing ingredients as locally as possible. Opportunity, however, again presented Cummins and his staff, which has grown from 6 to 10 since October, the chance to do something a little different.
