Last week, BizTimes executive editor Steve Jagler wrote a Milwaukee Biz Blog about how most Wisconsin residents outside of the Milwaukee media market are not yet engaged in the Wisconsin gubernatorial race and would have trouble picking the candidates out of a lineup.
The latest University of Wisconsin Badger Poll released today validates that assessment, with 52 percent of the 500 Wisconsin residents surveyed saying they are undecided about the race. A majority of voters also said they do not know enough about any of the three candidates to say whether they like them or not.
As for those who are paying attention, 32 percent in the poll said they would vote for either Republican Scott Walker or Mark Neumann if the election was held now, while only 15 percent said they would vote for Democrat Tom Barrett.
The random telephone poll of 500 people was conducted between June 9 and July 10 and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4 percentage points.
