Mural reminds us to keep waterways clean

Milwaukee-based digital marketing agency Thirsty Boy recently commissioned artist, Linda Freund to create a mural on the Milwaukee River near Schlitz Park to draw attention to the Milwaukee RiverKeeper mission of restoring Milwaukee waterways. The mural depicts a giant water slide emptying into the river.
“We are emphatically behind the Riverkeeper mission of restoring
Milwaukee’s waterways,” said Steve Koeneke, Thirsty Boy founder and
Milwaukee Riverkeeper board member. “This piece of art is a provocative and
memorable reminder of the potential enjoyment a clean river brings.”
John Grunau of Schlitz Park and Riverkeeper board member provided the barge and scaffolding necessary to accomplish the project.”
“Thirsty Boy and Riverkeeper have been trying to align the stars for some time to make this happen,” said Karen Schapiro, Milwaukee Riverkeeper executive director. “We’re extremely excited about getting our message out to the public in such a creative way. Hopefully, the piece will lead to a greater awareness and increased support.”
