Milwaukee-based digital marketing agency Thirsty Boy recently commissioned artist, Linda Freund to create a mural on the Milwaukee River near Schlitz Park to draw attention to the Milwaukee RiverKeeper mission of restoring Milwaukee waterways. The mural depicts a giant water slide emptying into the river.
โ€œWe are emphatically behind the Riverkeeper mission of restoring
Milwaukeeโ€™s waterways,โ€ said Steve Koeneke, Thirsty Boy founder and
Milwaukee Riverkeeper board member. โ€œThis piece of art is a provocative and
memorable reminder of the potential enjoyment a clean river brings.โ€
John Grunau of Schlitz Park and Riverkeeper board member provided the barge and scaffolding necessary to accomplish the project.โ€
โ€œThirsty Boy and Riverkeeper have been trying to align the stars for some time to make this happen,โ€ said Karen Schapiro, Milwaukee Riverkeeper executive director. โ€œWeโ€™re extremely excited about getting our message out to the public in such a creative way. Hopefully, the piece will lead to a greater awareness and increased support.โ€
