Peter Gebauer is transitioning from executive chef at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino to executive chef at Sendik’s Food Markets, the grocer announced on Tuesday.
Gebauer, who has served as executive chef at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino for nearly a decade, is an award-winning chef with more than 40 years of culinary experience.
Among his awards, he was named 2013 Chef of the Year by the Wisconsin Restaurant Association. He also is the local chapter president of the American Culinary Federation.
“Peter is a great addition to our Sendik’s family,” Ted Balistreri, family co-owner of Sendik’s Food Markets, said in an announcement. “The talent and experience he brings to our kitchens will allow us to develop even more homemade favorites to share with our guests. It’s important we continue to meet the evolving tastes of our guests and maintain our status among the culinary leaders in the marketplace.”
During his run at Potawatomi Hotel & Casino, Gebauer designed and rolled out new restaurant concepts. He also played a key role in operating the Culinary Academy, which helped entry-level associates build on their management skills.
Before coming to Milwaukee, Gebauer served Gaylord Opryland Resort, Palace Resorts, Disney World, Norwegian Cruise Lines and Abu Dhabi In-Flight Catering Co. Included in his career highlights was the opportunity to cater to Lady Diana and Prince Charles on their honeymoon flight.
In his new role, Gebauer will work to create new Sendik’s signature recipes and will oversee chefs in all of Sendik’s 12 kitchens.
“Sendik’s is a company I’ve always admired, and I’m very excited to be joining their team,” Gebauer said. “Working with local companies providing high quality, fresh food made with local ingredients has always been a passion of mine. It’s a natural fit for me, and I look forward to helping Sendik’s build and grow its culinary reputation.”
