Rockwell Automation has been awarded a $21.7 million contract from the U.S. Navy for the operation of machinery control systems on its Navy and Coast Guard surface ships.
The contract includes programmable controllers, variable frequency drives, software and engineering support services for both domestic and international use.
Rockwell’s systems will be critical to the day to day and strategic shipboard operations for the Navy and Department of Defense.
The Milwaukee industrial automation manufacturer has provided systems and software to Navy and Coast Guard ships since 1997 and also makes its products available for navies in more than 80 countries.
“Control systems designed for the marine industry need to meet stringent requirements, especially for the U.S. Navy, which operates world-class fleets 24/7 throughout the world,” said Joe Moffa, Rockwell Automation marine business manager. “We are proud to meet these requirements and provide the machinery control systems, technical support and engineering services, on-site and through our global network of employees and distributors.”
