Batteries Plus Bulbs to light Habitat homes with more than 182,000 bulbs

Learn more about:

Hartland-based Batteries Plus Bulbs has donated more than 182,000 Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs to Habitat for Humanity to light the homes the organization builds and revitalizes for low-income residents and families throughout Wisconsin as well as in Alabama, Arizona and Missouri.

The donation, totaling more than $500,000, will provide Habitat for Humanity homes with energy-efficient and cost-effective lighting. Compact Fluorescent Light bulbs use one fifth to one third the electricity of incandescent light bulbs, according to Batteries Plus Bulbs. These bulbs also have the potential to last eight to 15 times longer.

“The opportunity to support Habitat for Humanity’s mission to improve the lives of families in need is an extremely rewarding experience for our company,” said Russ Reynolds, chief executive officer of Batteries Plus Bulbs. “Much like Habitat for Humanity, we have locations across the country. So this gift really helps us extend our strong sense of community roots and the ways we continue giving back to our neighborhoods.”

Donations from companies like Batteries Plus Bulbs are crucial to Habitat for Humanity’s success in fulfilling its mission to provide safe, affordable and sustainable housing for residents in need, said Kymberly Wolff, the nonprofit’s senior vice president of development.

“The warm glow of a front porch light is often a symbol of the comfort of home, and the light bulbs donated by Batteries Plus Bulbs will help our partner families brighten their homes for many years to come,” Wolff said.

Batteries Plus Bulbs, formerly known as Batteries Plus, announced a rebrand of its company earlier this month in line with its 25th anniversary. The company’s new identity better reflects its expanded product offerings, which include light bulbs. Batteries Plus Bulbs will be incorporated into the signage of all future store openings.
