Nashotah-based Techniplas Group has acquired the plastics technology automotive and industrial division of Weidmann International Corp.
Techniplas, a privately held group of plastics-focused manufacturing businesses comprised of Dickten Masch Plastics, Nyloncraft Inc. and Vallotech Inc., was formed in 2012. It primarily serves the automotive, industrial and heavy duty truck industries.
Weidmann’s plastics technology A & I division is based in Rapperswil, Switzerland, and has manufacturing plants in the U.S., Switzerland, Germany, Brazil and China. It makes highly engineered and technically complex plastic components for the automotive industry.
The division will remain an independent company under Weidmann A&I, and will retain its headquarters. The company will coordinate its activities with the other Weidmann companies to serve global customers.
“We are very pleased to add Weidmann plastics technology A & I division to the Techniplas group,” said George Votis, chairman and founder of Techniplas. “Weidmann A & I is well known in the automotive industry for its Swiss quality, state-of-the-art manufacturing and ability to fully support its customers from concept to production. With an extensive global presence and a highly qualified management team, we believe the combination of existing Techniplas companies with Weidmann A & I creates a powerful new business entity.”
Techniplas expects the acquisition will bring its sales from $234 million to almost $500 million.
“This transaction transforms Techniplas into a truly global player with a broad depth of manufacturing and development expertise. We look forward to leveraging these new capabilities on behalf of our customers,” Votis said.
