ASID
The Wisconsin Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers recently celebrated the design talents and accomplishments of design firms and students throughout Wisconsin at the 38th annual Design Excellence Awards Gala. ASID honored professionals and students for exceptional interior design projects. ASID award winners were selected by three members of the National ASID from a pool of 56 projects entered by designers across the state.
Professional honorees: Milwaukee-based Kahler Slater earned a platinum award, a silver award and two bronze awards; Milwaukee-based Rinka Chung Architecture earned a gold award and a bronze award; Waukesha-based Building Service, Inc. earned a gold award and a silver award; Milwaukee-based Zimmerman Architectural Studios, Inc. earned a silver award; Milwaukee-based Eppstein Uhen earned a gold award; Milwaukee-based Direct Supply Aptura earned a silver award; Waunakee-based Access Wisconsin earned a bronze award; Kohler-based Kohler Architecture and Interior Design earned a silver award; and Milwaukee-based Plunkett Raysich Architects earned a silver award and two bronze awards.
Swimming Pool Services
Pewaukee-based Swimming Pool Services Inc. was recently honored with three gold awards and a bronze award from the Midwest Chapter of the Association of Pool and Spa Professionals. The association consists of independent pool and spa manufacturers, distributors, swimming pool builders, retailers and service companies who promise to uphold national standards for professionalism and accountability. The Midwest Chapter Design Awards, open to more than 100 chapter members in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa, were announced in March. Swimming Pool Services won two gold awards and a bronze award for excellence in planning and craftsmanship of three individual pool projects. A third gold award recognized the company as an “outstanding service company,” according to feedback from customer surveys. SPS has been recognized by the APSP Midwest Chapter with gold awards for more than 10 consecutive years.
‘Most Ethical’ Companies
Five Wisconsin-based corporations have been listed among the 2014 Ethisphere Institute’s World’s Most Ethical Companies. The awards highlight organizations that continually push ethical leadership and corporate behavior. According to the Ethisphere Institute, an independent center of research promoting best practices in corporate ethics and governance, these organizations understand the connection among ethics, reputation and business success. Honored corporations from Wisconsin are Milwaukee-based Rockwell Automation Inc., Milwaukee-based ManpowerGroup, Glendale-based Johnson Controls Inc., Madison-based Wisconsin Physicians Service Insurance Corp. and Madison-based CUNA Mutual Group. Honorees were selected from an assessment that evaluates companies in five key categories: ethics and compliance program; reputation, leadership and innovation; governance; corporate citizenship and responsibility; and culture of ethics. Milwaukee Brewers and Meijer
The Milwaukee Brewers have established a multi-year partnership with big box retail chain Meijer as the company prepares to enter the southeastern Wisconsin market in 2015. The Grand Rapids, Mich.-based company currently has more than 200 store locations in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. Under the new partnership, Meijer branding will be featured in the right-center and left-center field walls at Miller Park. The retailer will also advertise online at www.brewers.com.
