Wozniak to keynote Flying Car 2014

Apple Computer Inc. co-founder Steve Wozniak will keynote Flying Car 2014, an innovation and technology conference put on by the Greater Milwaukee Committee’s Innovation in Milwaukee (MiKE).

The event, which will be held June 25 to 27 at locations around Milwaukee, also features Allan “Bud” Selig, commissioner of Major League Baseball, Heidi Hackemer, former Google brand strategist and David Shing, AOL’s “digital prophet.”

Wozniak, who revolutionized personal computing and currently serves as chief scientist at Fusion-io, will speak on June 27 at 8 a.m. at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The name Flying Car represents the possibilities of innovation. Flying Car, which was initially called Innovation Week and is in its third year, is chaired by Todd Teske, president and chief executive officer of Briggs & Stratton Corp. and Jonas Prising, president of ManpowerGroup. The theme is “People-Powered Innovation,” a nod to the people behind ideas.

“We look forward to again showcasing Milwaukee as an emerging hub of technology and innovation,” Prising said. “Who today better embodies innovation than Steve Wozniak?”

In addition to leader presentations, Flying Car will include hands-on labs for attendees to experiment with new fields and networking opportunities.

“When we rebranded Innovation Week as ‘Flying Car’ in 2013, the event truly started to take off,” said Teske said. “At Flying Car 2014, speakers and labs will teach guests that anyone, no matter their title, can infuse innovation into their everyday work and lives.”

“Through continuing to partner with widely-recognized companies and institutions, we push forward and showcase Milwaukee’s innovation on the national stage,” said Julia Taylor, president of the Greater Milwaukee Committee.

Registration opens on May 19th. For more information, visit flyingcarmke.com.
