After working for another wire distributor for 13 years and being overlooked for a promotion, Jim Lindenberg ventured out on his own and formed World Class Wire & Cable Inc. in Waukesha in 1994.
The company supplies electrical and electronic cable all over the world. The firm’s value-added services include stripping, twisting, printing, dying and repackaging the wire.
The company has had double-digit growth in its sales for 10 of 11 years.
“Wiring cable can be a commodity,” Lindenberg said. “We try to build relationships, use value-added products and develop individual programs with customers.”
Lindenberg said his lead times and value-added products are second to none. The company keeps stock to ensure its customers are always supplied.
“Most importantly, we have positive, upbeat people who will be honest, get the job done and follow through with customers,” Lindenberg said.
Those principles resound with every employee in the company, he said. Open communication is stressed through newsletters and e-mails. Moral building is done through free lunches and monthly incentive contests.
Every employee has goals to accomplish and is rewarded when those goals are accomplished.
“There’s a lot of team building here,” Lindenberg said.
Motivational speakers are brought in as a means to constantly refresh the company.
“We’re all really active in the communities in which we live in,” Lindenberg said. “We support a lot of sports and youth groups. We coach, encourage being active. When you help people, they help you back.”
