Women in Business Breakfast lineup set

Dr. Eve Hall, president and chief executive officer of the newly revived African American Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin, will be the recipient of the 2015 BizTimes Woman Executive of the Year Award.

Hall will receive the award at the BizTimes Women in Business Breakfast, to be held at the BizExpo at the Potawatomi Hotel & Casino on Wednesday, May 20.

A panel discussion will precede the presentation of the award. The panel will discuss “How Business Can Power Change through Leadership and Innovation.”

The panel of accomplished women leaders will include: Abby Andrietsch, co-founder and executive director, Schools That Can Milwaukee; Cynthia LaConte, CEO of Dohmen; Gail Lione, adjunct professor of intellectual property law at Marquette University Law School; and Thelma Sias, vice president of local affairs at We Energies. The discussion will be moderated by Kimberly Kane, president and founder of Kane Communication Group.

Hall is a longtime leader and advocate in the education, nonprofit and government sectors. She has earned a reputation as a “builder,” and one who inspires and demonstrates the power of strong programs and partnerships to create change and opportunities that positively impact the lives of others.

Hall is a native of Milwaukee. Prior to the Chamber, she served as the chief innovation officer for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, where she spent 10 years in various national leadership roles impacting students and university/school district/business partnerships in several states.

Hall’s previous roles included vice president of public affairs at Family Service of Milwaukee, Milwaukee Public Schools’ School to Work director and director of former Gov. Tommy Thompson’s Milwaukee office. In spring 2014, Hall was appointed by Gov. Scott Walker to serve on the University of Wisconsin System board of regents. She also serves on the Governor’s Task Force on Minority Unemployment.

Hall is the co-founder of the African American Women’s Project Fund, created in 1999 and designed to provide support to organizations supporting the well-being of women and girls. The fund is held in the Women’s Fund of Greater Milwaukee.  

Previous recipients of the BizTimes Woman Executive of the Year Award have included Nanette Gardetto, Maria Monreal-Cameron, Lione and LaConte.
