WMEP rolls out new program to help manufacturers develop exports

Learn more about:

The Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnership (WMEP) will begin the second session of its new ExporTech program on Sept. 16. The program is designed to help small and mid sized manufacturers develop exporting programs and fast track their international sales over three months. A coach/mentor helps companies collect market data, find market targets and create international growth plans.

WMEP held a pilot of the program this spring, during which it helped Waukesha-based TLX Technologies LLC develop an export program.

“Global markets offer terrific opportunities for Wisconsin manufacturers,” said Aaron Olver, secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Commerce. “ExporTech has proven its worth in helping companies start or expand an export initiative.”

The ExporTech program costs $1,000 per participating company. Grants from Bentley World-Packaging Ltd., FedEx, Milwaukee World Trade Association Inc. and M&I Bank Global Trade Services may offset some costs.
