WISN 12 will run its fourth annual “Food For Families Phone Bank” on Tuesday and Wednesday to pull in donations for families relying on Hunger Task Force for holiday meals.
During the phone bank, volunteers will staff phones and vet donations from callers. Donations of $15 will buy a turkey for an area family. Those donations will be matched by Milwaukee-based Rexnord under the Rexnord Turkey Ticker Challenge.
“WISN 12 has a strong commitment to making a difference in the community that we serve,” Jan Wade, president and general manager of WISN TV, said in a statement. “We take that mission very seriously. That is why we are so honored to partner once again with Hunger Task Force on the important work they do to help feed the hungry in our area.”
Volunteers will include media members from WISN 12 as well as a number of elected officials and staff from the Milwaukee Brewers, WaterStone Bank, Rexnord and Wells Fargo.
Phones will be open from 6 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 7 p.m. each day. Callers should dial 414-799-9476.
“Partnering with our friends at WISN 12 right before Thanksgiving is a great help to Hunger Task Force and to families who need a hand in our community. We’re grateful for this relationship and look forward to a successful telethon,” said Hunger Task Force Executive Director Sherrie Tussler.
WISN 12 is a media partner of BizTimes Milwaukee.
