Northern Trust appoints new VP and portfolio manager
Chicago-based Northern Trust Corp., a provider of personal financial services for affluent individuals and families, has appointed Steven Schumacher as vice president and portfolio manager in the company’s Milwaukee office. Schumacher is responsible for developing and managing diversified investment portfolios for high net worth clients and charitable institutions. He reports to James Kuehn, president of Northern Trust – Wisconsin. Schumacher has more than 16 years of trust and investment management experience. His most recent position was as a portfolio manager with M&I Investment Management Corp., where he provided asset management services for high net worth individuals, nonprofit organizations and corporations. Prior to his portfolio manager role, Schumacher served in various internal roles at M&I including assisting in the investment management process and performing account administration.
Wausau Financial Systems enters agreement to provide secure bill payment via mobile phones
Wausau Financial Systems recently entered into an agreement with ClairMail Inc., a company that specializes in customer interaction via mobile phones, to help financial institutions offer secure bill payment with mobile phones to their clients. ClairMail’s Mobile Lockbox technology allows customers who have signed up for its service to receive two-way text messages that tell the customer a bill has been received. The text message contains who the bill is from, the dollar amount and the due date. Clients can pay the bill by responding to the text message.
SBA awards top lenders
The Wisconsin District of the Small Business Administration recently recognized several Milwaukee-area financial institutions as the top lenders in various categories at its 19th Annual Lenders Conference in Wisconsin Dells. This year’s top lenders are:

- Wisconsin Business Development Finance Corp. – 504 CDC in 504 Lending
- US Bank – Veterans Loan Lender
- Wisconsin Women’s Business Initiative Corp. – Micro Lender
