Weyco Group reports strong quarter

Milwaukee-based Weyco Group Inc. reported third quarter net earnings of $5.2 million, or 48 cents per share, up from $4.4 million, or 40 cents per share, in the same period a year ago.

The company’s net sales for the quarter were $79.5 million, an increase of 7 percent from 2011 sales of $74.6 million.

Wholesale sales of Florsheim, Bogs and Umi were up 20, 46 and 9 percent, respectively, for the quarter. Stacy Adams sales remained flat, while Nunn Bush sales were down 16 percent for the quarter.

“Overall, we feel we had very solid results this quarter,” stated Thomas Florsheim Jr. chairman and chief executive officer of Weyco Group. “In particular, we are pleased with the performance of Bogs in Canada. We recently took over the distribution of Bogs in that market and believe we are well-positioned for long-term growth in Canada.”
