Representatives from the Milwaukee Water Council will fly to Singapore next week to attend the Singapore International Water Week 2011, which runs from Monday, July 4 to Friday, July 8.
โThe Singapore conference is a great opportunity to put Milwaukee on the world water map,โ said Water Council co-chair Rich Meeusen of Badger Meter. โThe existing water industry cluster and research facilities should make it a magnet for students and academics as well as water technology companies looking to relocate or do business in Americaโs heartland.โ
The Milwaukee Water Council will have an exhibit in the eventโs main venue, the Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre. The Council will partner with Badger Meter, UW-Milwaukee and the Great Lakes Water Consortium on the booth, which is believed to be the only one at the conference representing a specific region, as opposed to a country. Joining the Water Councilโs presence in Singapore will be representatives from UW-Whitewater, Michigan State University, University of Illinois, Whyte Hirschboeck Dudek S.C.,Gannet Fleming and Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. During the conference, Milwaukee Water Council representatives will actively position the region to event attendees as a world water hub in terms of research, academics and businesses.
The Singapore International Water Week was founded in 2008. It is comprised of the Water Leadersโ Summit, Water Convention, Water Expo and Business Forums and culminates in the presentation of the Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize, a prestigious international award to recognize outstanding contributions in solving world water issues. The conferenceโs 2011 theme is Sustainable Water Solutions for a Changing Urban Environment. For more information, visit www.siww.com.sg.
