Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreen Co. reported a nearly 8 percent decrease in net earnings for the second quarter, despite record sales.
Earnings for the period ended Feb. 29 were $683 million, or 78 cents per diluted share, down 7.7 percent from $739 million, or 80 cents per diluted share, in the same quarter a year ago.
