Von Briesen & Roper delays decision on new office space

Von Briesen & Roper, S.C., which for months said it planned to make a decision about a new office location by the end of the third quarter, announced last week that it is postponing its decision.
The law firm is currently located in the 411 E. Wisconsin Ave. building in downtown Milwaukee. The firm plans to move its office to a different downtown location and is seeking 75,000 square feet of space.
Von Briesen is considering moving to two proposed downtown office developments: one that Irgens Development Partners LLC and Joel Lee of Van Buren Management are working on at the southeast corner of Mason and Jefferson streets, and another proposed by Weas Development southeast of Broadway and Michigan Street.
“We are committed to downtown Milwaukee, and we believe the time is right for a new, mixed-use tower. We would be delighted to anchor this project. Milwaukee is a world-class city with a wealth of theater, entertainment, professional sports franchises, museums and restaurants. It is time to capitalize on the Milwaukee idea of hard work and great entertainment and build new building that speaks to our city’s culture, history and dynamic future.”
Von Briesen is one of three potential anchor tenants for a new downtown Milwaukee office building. The others are the Godfrey & Kahn law firm, currently located in the M&I Bank headquarters in downtown Milwaukee, and Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP, currently located on in the Honey Creek Corporate Center on the west side of the city of Milwaukee.
“A lot of hard work an evaluation is being done for all of the alternatives,” said Steve Palec, of CB Richard Ellis, who has been hired by Baker Tilly to evaluate its office space options. “Diligently, the entire team is going over every detail.”
