Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. Inc. has decided to expand with a new office tower in downtown Milwaukee.

In a press conference today, Northwestern chief executive officer John Schlifske said the decision to build the tower preserves 1,100 jobs and will bring 1,700 more jobs to downtown over the next 10 years.
The project also is expected to create more than 900 construction jobs.
Sclifske said the new building will be an iconic addition to Milwaukee’s skyline.
