The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee has hired Andy Geiger as its new athletic director, according to a report by radio station WUWM.
Geiger has more than three decades of experience in collegiate athletics.
He led the athletic program at Ohio State from 1994 to 2005. Geiger oversaw hundreds of millions of dollars worth of athletic construction projects during his tenure with the Buckeyes.
Prior to his duty at Ohio State, Geiger was athletic director at the University of Maryland, College Park, and at Stanford University.
In a prepared statement, Geiger said, “I am ready to apply the experience of 35 years as a Division 1 athletic director to the student-athletes, coaches and staff at UWM.”
Geiger becomes the third athletic director at UWM in the last two years. He succeeds Rick Costello, who resigned in April.
